Before the Service
- Make nametags and arm-bands for board members and other helpers
- Print out "turn off your cell phone" announcement for the front door
- Prepare posts and cord to block passage through the center aisle
- Prepare water for extinguish badnjak (yule log) fire
Candles
1 person to help Duško with the candles.3 additional people to sell candles. We make a lot of money on the candles that day
In the church
1-4 person at the front door (greet people, collect donations, and answer questions; and since it will be cold, these persons might not be able to stand outside long)
2 persons at the second door
4 persons in the isles ( 2 middle, 1 on left, 1 on right )
8 persons to prervent parishioners from leaving pews and entering the center eisle
- People in the aisles will usher parishioners to seats (leave the center aisle unblocked for the procession)
- Block center aisle. Let through elderly, families with children.
- Keep Rear Passages clear by directing parishioners to the left and right aisles.
- Warn visitors of inapropriate behavior (holding hands, kissing, chewing gum)
Badnjak Procession
- Make a list of people in the procession, so that they are relieved of other duties
- Prepare for the procession when the priest starts reading "poslanica" and his speech (about 15 min).
- Father Ðokan needs to announce that the people should not block the center aisle for the Badnjak procession
- All 7 people will move to the sides of the center aisle and make sure it people do not leave their seats!!! Make sure parishioners do not block the center aisle.
- The 3 ushers in the back (bL,bR,bC in the image) move together with the procession, making sure people do not push onto the badnjak, cross, flag.
Distributing Badnjak
3-4 persons - traditionally girls
- At the end of the service, move icon stands to facilitate more throughput
- At the end of the service, 4 people will block the aisle exits (2
in center, 1 on each side - see the flowchart). Face
people - do not turn them back. When someone starts complaining, engage
in conversation about crowding, how you had to be there 4 hours ago,
etc.
Let through: 10 parishioners on the left, 15 + 15 center, 10 on the right - 1 person will make sure people keep moving instead of
picking nicer banjo.
In the Kitchen
Kolo srpskih sestara10 additional servers - 5 for 2nd floor, 5 for 3rd floor
- Carry bulk of food to the 3rd floor so the servers do not have to
run up and down
