Easter - Organization for Large Events
- Before the Service - Preparation

Before the Service
- 3 weeks before: recruit 20 people
- 1 week before: make nametags and arm-bands for board members and other helpers
- Make a decorative box for collecting questionnaires
- Print out "turn off your cell phone" announcement for the front door
- Prepare posts and cord to block passage through the center aisle
- Place brochures and questionnaires on all benches
- Prepare a garbage can at the church exit for egg containers.
- Prepare a table for placing eggs. Print two signs: "ZA CRKVU" and "PRIVATNA"
- Print "RESERVED" signs and place them on the tables in the Parish Hall, if necessary.
- Prepare 4 clipboards.
Candles
1 person to help Duško with the candles.3 additional people to sell candles. We make lot of money on the candles that day
In the church
1 person at the front door (greet people, collect donations, and answer questions;
and since it will be cold, this person might not stand outside long)
2 persons at the second door
4 persons in the aisles ( 2 middle, 1 on left, 1 on
right )
2 persons to carry egg baskets and bags
- People in the aisles will usher parishioners to seats (leave the center aisle unblocked for the procession)
- Block center aisle. Let through elderly, families with children.
- Keep Rear Passages clear by directing parishioners to the left and right aisles.
- 2 persons will take egg baskets from the parishioners at the door, and carry them to the front. Have to ask parishioners if the eggs are for the church or to be picked up by the parishioner at the end of the service. Place the eggs in sections "ZA CRKVU" and "PRIVATNA", respectively.
End of the Service
When the priest starts reading "poslanica", all ushers should move towards the front, and block the aisles.
Make sure the aisles are blocked before the priest announces blessing of the eggs.
Distributing Easter Eggs
3-4 persons - traditionally girls
- At the end of the service, move icon stands to facilitate more throughput
- At the end of the service, 4 people will block the aisle exits (2
in center, 1 on each side - see the flowchart). Face
people - do not turn them your back. When someone starts complaining, engage
in conversation about crowding, how you had to be there 4 hours ago,
etc.
Let through: 10 parishioners on the left, 15 + 15 center, 10 on the right - 1 person will make sure people keep moving instead of
picking eggs.

10 additional servers - 5 for 2nd floor, 5 for 3rd
floor
8 persons to collect donations
- Carry bulk of food to the 3rd floor so the servers do not have to run up and down
- 2 pairs (4 persons) on the 2nd floor and 2 pairs on the 3rd floor will collect donations and write donor's names on the clipboards.
